  Party Planning Guidelines

PARTY PLANNING GUIDELINES (K-3RD GRADES):
Parties are about 1 hour in length, and typically include about 3 activities. Think 2 games and a craft, or 2 crafts and a game. Generally the 3 activities will be running concurrently at 3 different stations, and the class will be split into three groups ahead of time. A good rule of thumb is about 17-18 minutes per activity, which leaves a few minutes for the groups to transition between each activity.  Please keep this timeline in mind when planning activities! Direction-giving and clean up at the end of each station should be taken into timing account!  A poorly planned timeline can make for a (more) chaotic party at the end of the school day!
No food may be passed out or used as prizes or activities, including food used for crafts such as beans or marshmallows.

Party plans MUST be emailed to teachers ahead of time for approval - ideally at least 2 weeks ahead of time. Please keep in mind your party plan must be approved prior to purchasing any party supplies!

PARTY PLANNING GUIDELINES (4th and 5th GRADES):
Party Location 4th Grade: CAFETERIA
Party Location 5th Grade: GYM
Parties are about 1 hour in length and should include 5 activity stations. Think games, crafts, and activities that can accommodate between 25-29 kids split into at least two groups at each station. The stations will run concurrently. A good rule of thumb is 10 minutes per activity, which leaves a few minutes for the groups to transition between each activity.  Please keep this timeline in mind when planning activities! Direction-giving and clean up at the end of each station should be taken into timing account!
No food may be passed out or used as prizes or activities, including food used for crafts such as beans or marshmallows.
*Please keep in mind that you are only able to get into the cafeteria or gym about 10 minutes prior to the party start time since classes and lunch are being held in those rooms on party day. Please plan setup time accordingly when planning your activities!

PARTY ACTIVITY IDEAS:
More to come!  But in the meantime, some helpful tips and tricks:
* Have something planned at the end of the party in case you end up with extra time: coloring pages, Mad Libs, or crosswords that can be done in in school or taken home are always a hit! Read a themed book! That can easily be paced to fit the time frame you have and it gives the kids a minute to quietly regroup after all the active fun!
* Plan for transporting creations home: paint typically doesn't have time to dry fully before a long bus ride home or a quick shove into a backpack, little flower pots of dirt might require a plastic zip-bag to prevent spills.
*Sharing hats may mean sharing lice! Try to avoid hat or clothes-sharing to avoid a break filled with checking heads and laundering the whole house!
*Avoid anything religious-themed (Christmas trees, crosses, mangers, etc).
